Meet the Davis family
The Davis family farming history goes back some 70 years. The family farm has been located in the Strawn and Forrest Illinois area since 1951. Both Mark and his wife, Elaine, have farming heritages that are rich in faith and family values and those values are woven into every aspect of their lives. The Davis’ farm is a moderate sized grain acreage operation that also included livestock of both hogs and cattle. Like many moderate sized farmers, the Davises had to watch costs carefully and work hard to maximize their selling price successes to keep their operation profitable. They know the value of hard work and perseverance to grow your farming business.
Their strong commitment to the core values faith, family, hard work, and perseverance not only flows through their personal farming operation, they also carry those core values into the Crop-Side family business. Mark and his two sons, Craig and Clint, view every member of Crop-Side as a family member, and their mission is to help their Crop-Side family members succeed. During their first 10 years of business they have been able to consistently guide their Crop-Side family members to better than average selling prices for corn, soybeans, and wheat, and they have worked hard to keep their cost structure as low as possible. Their goal is to keep their services reasonably priced so even smaller farm operations can benefit from their expertise and services.

Meet the Crop-Side Team
Mark Davis grew up on a grain and livestock farm in central Illinois. In 1975, he received an Applied Science Degree in Agriculture at Blackhawk East College in Kewanee, IL. He operated a 90 sow farrow to finish hog operation for 35 years along with grain farming. He has been technically charting commodity price action for 20 years and became a licensed commodity broker in 2002. Realizing that most farmers lack a plan to market cash grain, he developed Crop-Side Marketing in 2009. This is an individual plan that is clearly defined to help the farmer with profitability. The idea is to treat farming as a business, not just a lifestyle. Currently, along with farming, he manages a branch office in Fairbury, Illinois. Craig Davis works as a financial grain analyst for Crop-Side marketing. He received a degree in Agriculture Production at Joliet Junior College. He specialized in farm business along with swine management. He also grew up on a grain and livestock farm in central Illinois. He currently operates a 50 feeder cow operation business along with grain farming. Seeing the risks in managing his personal farm business has created a passion to help other farmers. Knowing the agriculture industry is always changing, it motivates him to help farmers make better marketing and financial decisions.
Clint Davis works as a partner/consultant for Crop-Side. In 2012 he graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Business Analytic & Information Sciences. He also grew up on a grain and livestock farm in central Illinois. He currently lives in Chicago working for a proprietary trading firm at the Chicago Board of Trade specializing in the grain complex. Seeing the movement of commodity prices daily, it motivates him to help farmers sell grain. The shift in technology and algorithmic programs creates many new variables when it comes to trading. Clint is passionate for farmers to market grain profitably and he is dedicated to provide them with the proper tools to do so.
